Panasonic approached us back in 2010, at a point when organic LED display technology was still in its infancy and before the leap to commercial adoption. We were asked to explore ideas and opportunities for their TV category. Our focus centred around one of the key benefits of OLED at the time... ‘Thinness’.
The lightweight structure, carefully chosen materials, and modular design approach of this television concept were intended to create a product expression that felt more like furniture than traditional technology. This concept later inspired and helped shape the design direction of the Viera ES500, which launched in 2017 for the Japanese market.
